Bio
Ken Inadomi’s career defies easy categorization, but one thread runs through it all: a deep belief in people and their power to create change.
Born in East Los Angeles in 1954, Ken moved to New York City in 1980 to begin his career at HBO during the dawn of cable television—and he’s called the city home ever since. His early professional path included leadership roles in media (HBO, Warner, Amex) and entrepreneurial ventures in publishing (TechCom) and housing finance, where he served as CEO and owner of CIS (Credit Information Services)—a national mortgage credit reporting firm that gave him a firsthand view of the challenges facing underserved homebuyers.
Ken entered the nonprofit sector in 2008 as Executive Director of the New York Mortgage Coalition, where he led a network of banks and housing counseling agencies that facilitated over $100 million in affordable home loans, helping hundreds of low- and moderate-income families—primarily families of color—become first-time homeowners. He later led NYPACE, which provides pro bono strategic consulting and training to under-resourced entrepreneurs across New York City.
He is the founding chair of the Yale Alumni Nonprofit Alliance (YANA), a nonprofit whose mission is to convene, connect, and catalyze mission-driven alumni and amplify their impact. Under his leadership, YANA has grown into a global network of over 8,000 alums dedicated to giving back and changing lives.
Ken has twice served as co-chair of Project Redwood, the nonprofit launched by his Stanford Business School Class of 1980 to help move the flywheel in fighting global poverty. Since its founding in 2005, Project Redwood has provided over $6 million in funding and in-kind support to more than 80 nonprofits and NGOs across the U.S. and Global South—helping improve the lives of over one million people worldwide.
He draws the most inspiration from his family, starting with his 99-year-old mother Kimi, wife Melinda, daughter Molly, granddaughter Leni, and son-in-law Danny, who lives by a timeless rhythm: inhale life, exhale joy—a mindset Ken aspires to each day.
A graduate of Yale University (BA, 1976) and the Stanford Graduate School of Business (MBA, 1980), Ken received the Yale Medal in 2017, the university’s highest honor for volunteer leadership and service.
